Turkish Churro (Halka Tatlisi in Turkish):  Sweet Churros are one of those very popular street foods or street desserts in Istanbul . They are mostly called Halka Tatlisi in Turkish . For me, it was a bit overly sweet, and the inside is just oozing with a honey-syrup, which is bit to much.  One or two bites of that is probably enough.

Fruit Juice vendors:  They are everywhere. It’s great to have the option to drink pomegranate, orange, carrot, apple juice on the go.

Kokorec sandwich (kokorec balik in Turkish): Variety lamb or goat meat piled on skewer, then wrapped with intestines. One of the best drunk food in town.

Balik-Ekmek– freshly cooked fish served inside a bun of bread. This is typically served on the Eminonu square straight from the boat on which it is prepared.

CAY (Tea):Turkish tea is a must have drink for Turkish people. Mostly consumed during breakfast, however, there is no limit to it.

SIMIT :  Simit, one of the most popular street foods, is a round bread covered with sesame seeds. It pairs well with cream or feta cheese and tea for breakfast.

Kestane kebab ( kes-tah-neh in Turkish ): Chestnuts roast outside in the fall and winter, when kestane kebab carts are all over town making Istanbul smell more authentic.

Tursu Suyu(tour-shoe sue-you in Turkish ):You are perhaps shocked that people are drinking pickled vegetable juice on the streets. Pickles are a pretty common sider in the Turkish cuisine. 

Pilav –steamed rice with chicken and chickpeas, mostly sold in steam carts at night

BOZA (boo-zah  in Turkish):Fermented wheat drink that is considered it to be a powerful aphrodisiac. Served with cinnamon, and leblebi  (roasted chickpeas).

Doner kebab:The sliced meat of a Doner kebab may be served wrapped in a flatbread such as lavash or pita or as a sandwich instead of being served on a plate

AYRAN :Similar to Indian Lassi. It is a mixture of yogurt and cold water, with a pinch of salt. 

Shish kebab : served on the skewer and cubes of vegetables such as eggplant, tomato, bell pepper, and  onions

Mussels on the Streets of Istanbul: On any street corner or at any bus stop in Istanbul one will find a young man with a round dish piled with shining mussels, selling them one by one to passersby.
